Born on the 18th November 1963 Clive Everald Mckerney otherwise known as Guts Brown was introduced to music by his mother Joanne Turner around the dining often asked to stop singing while at the table
At the age of 10+ whilst attending St John,s Primary School in Spanish Town St Catherine when he was asked to perform the dance called Quadrille at the Ward Theatre Downtown Kingston
At !3 years of age he recieved his first paid performance in St Catherine on the Old Harbour Road where he sang and impressed . His musical career began from there.
His performance on many sound systems such as Cuppertone , lenny Marshall Sound and No Limit gave him credability in the industry
He attended Spanish Town Secondary School and achieved good grades and then went on to feature at a venue in St Annes Road in St Catherine alongside artists like Lieutenant Stitchy , King Yellowman , Josey Wales and Bammyman where he excelled and made his name
At White River Reggae Bash in Ocho Rios he sang for Elise Kelly on Irie FM
Junior Reid staged a show called One Blood in Fort Clarence where Guts Brown dominated and stole the show , a performance that is still spoken about today
In 1989 he recorded his first studio song called Pray in M1 studio Downtown Kingston with an engineer Tracksin
In 1993 he regisered his debut album with PRS called Children of the Black Emperor All Star with the then artist name of Jah Roots
